Among the changes that these new rules will bring are:
- A numbering system for the rules
- A 100 point penalty for 1st degree draw refusers, as opposed to 50 points previously.
- Clarified language concerning draws and the evidence the MT requires for a case.
- Specific policies for many uncovered things previously.
All the current moderators made solid contributions to the language of this new document. Napoleon 1er for his ideas on the unacceptable usernames; Lonello for his constant defense of flexibility which thanks to him does still survive in key parts of the wording; SymmeTric for her kindness and compassion which was embodied in the Optional Green Letter for permanent ban candidates after she went on hiatus from the MT; and tobermoryx for the analytical thoroughness he's shown since becoming a moderator, which I fervently hope I have embodied in the language I chose throughout the text. He's kept me on my toes every day. I thank them all for their patience in this very long process. They were more than kind and thoughtful along the way.
A special thanks goes to The Prof who contributed integral parts of the draw rules and practically the entire amendment process. He has been my rules partner in so many minute aspects of this game over the past two years. I value our friendship highly.
And I also say thanks to Midnightguy who contributed the Preface statement of the new ruleset, as well as large sections of the document that preceded this one so well for so long. Although the language has been substantially changed for a lot of the new rules, much has not and in some very important ways, such as the overall structure, a good chunk of this document is still very much his and The Prof's and others who assisted him a few years ago now.
I'd also like to thank KARAISKAKIS for the inspiration he's shown for the site, and his time and devotion to the game of Stratego. It was his believing in me and choosing me as a fellow Tournament Manager two years ago that got me started in all this process where I find myself today.
Finally, thanks to former admin Anne van Bergen who aided the Moderator Team in numerous ways and often informed us as to what was and wasn't possible. And also, of course, to Mick Moolhuijsen who gave his approval for these new rules and who has assisted the Moderator Team in many ways over the past year.
May everyone have lots of fun enjoying our favorite game this coming year. As we say constantly, See You on the Battlefield!
