TC has had an extremely busy schedule for a while now. Co-ordinating the Spring Tournament simultaneously with the remainder of the Champions League we felt was too much to organise particularly with only 2 current members). Fortunately for those who are disappointed that the Spring Tournament is not occurring as scheduled, queenbee1 has come to the rescue with the Spring Fling (http://forum.strateg...spring-fling-©/)

So the Spring Tournament won't be returning for the near future, but fear not, a brand new tournament series has been lined up as a replacement. Can't quite take the heat of a 12 or 20 week marathon? As I said, fear not, for the PRO Series has arrived - a cluster of three short tournaments (each no longer than 6 weeks) spread throughout the year culminating in a December Final.

The Series consists of three qualifiers whereby the top 4 from each progress to the PRO Final. The first event boasts a new tournament style - the Ladder format. Players begin on Level 1 and in each round they have the chance to climb up one rung to the next Level. The player to reach the top rung of the Ladder is the winner. It's basically a knock-out without the knock-out, so each player gets 5 games whatever the result. If you don't make the Top 4, fear not. Points are added up throughout the series and the 4 best scorers are added to the 12 automatic qualifiers.

The Ladder is followed by the PRO Perfect (yes it is as it sounds) and the PRO Random - an event which mixes thing up as each round is completely random. Imagine playing the same player 5 times! Ok that's not fun.

Once you have qualified you cant enter the other PRO tournaments, so as we reach the third qualifier all the top dogs will be missing. The events are timed to coincide at the halfway point of some of the other tourneys in the calendar, so for all those warriors disillusioned at an early exit, here is something to spice up your life again.

Registration for the PRO Ladder is open until Feb 23 23.59GMT

So the PRO Ladder is underway this week as the usual crowd of warriors attempt to climb some rungs to the top. Does anyone quite understand how the PRO Series works? Not sure. But one thing is for sure - this latest bunch of pretenders is the most enthusiastic crowd yet, with 12 of the 16 games are already arranged or played on day one - that has to be a record. Perhaps all the Forum arguments this week have inspired some warriors to sharpen their blades and get serious.

Nortrom will take on texaspete09 in the Final of the PROLadder this week.

Will Nortrom take back to back titles after his recent WCO victory, or will texaspete09 take his first Senior TC title?

For sure it will be one of those two.

Those finishing 2nd, 3rd & 4th will also qualify for the PRO Final at the end of this year. The 5 players that finish behind the winner will be decided on Buch, and the standings have been updated to show the current Buch scores.

Do i understand correctly that this means that if i win major nelson in any case i cannot get promoted? ... or is promotion based on buch after next game? Any possibility to show an example how buch is calculated?

For the 5 players who finish on Level 4, 3 of them will earn qualification (not 'promotion') for the PRO Final. This is determined by Buch. Buch scores are calculated by adding up the points of each opponent you have faced in the tournament.

For example, the four opponents of
KARAISKAKIS have scored 4 (PHAETHON) ,9 (tobermoryx), 14 (MTinsley) and 19 (Master Mind) respectively - giving a Buch of 46. The final Buch score therefore depends on the results in the Final Round of all the opponents you have faced (including your Final Round opponent).

At this stage it is highly unlikely (but not impossible) that KARAISKAKIS would qualify if he won. He would probably need all of those 4 previous opponents mentioned above to win their last round game.

A win in the 5th round in ladder 3 won't push you up to ladder 4?

A win in the 5th round in ladder 3 won't push you up to ladder 4?

If you win in Level 3, you will go to Level 4. However, it are Level 5 and 6 to qualify.

After Round 5 you will have 1 player on Level 1 (5 losses), 5 players on Level 2 (4 losses, 1 win), 10 players on Level 3 (3 losses, 2 wins), 10 players on Level 4 (2 losses, 3 wins), 5 players on Level 5 (1 loss, 4 wins) and the champion on Level 6 (5 wins). Automatically, the champion will qualify, together with 3 players from Level 5, based on their Buch points.

There are 5 warriors who have fought bravely in the PRO Ladder but have yet to find out whether their performance is good enough for a place in the PRO Final. For now, they have saddled their swords, and are waiting for the backroom staff to calculate their Buch points. There will be an agonising delay, as these large numbers are entered into a calculator and the last couple of crucial matches get finished.
