astros, you seem to have fun with this one so maybe against my better judgement I'll play along. Although I'm not a flat Earther and have actually posted a YouTube video questioning flat earthers on the decreasing latitude lines around the Earth, using various city pairs on differing latitudes south of the equator, and the shrinking parallel circles they describe when calculations are made with known flight times and distances between these lateral cities, I am intrigued by the questions they ask, I'll admit. The viewing distances over water, the line of sight targeting by ships using laser lighting at sea, the lack of Coriolis effect for all such long range targeting, the navigation of both airplanes and submarines over and under the flat surface of the water, the dielectric and uneven nature of the tides around the Earth...all these things are reason for pause. They are good questions and not something to snicker at if you don't have the answer.

Of course, the precursor for most people believing in the flat Earth is that the moon landings were faked. If you can't see that one, flat Earth will naturally appear preposterous. For me, when you can see the Photoshop lines around the Earth in that famous Earth-rise photo from the moon with the astronaut in the foreground, and all the other loads of photographic evidence, and capped off with the video of Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins--all themselves, no actors--practicing the faking of being "130,000 miles away from the Earth", according to Armstrong himself, I feel it's more than proven Apollo was faked.

That belief sets me up well to step into flat Earth theory, I'll admit. But I still view it with a skeptical eye. Your disdain for anyone even looking at the subject of flat Earth is non-veiled, and that's your perfect right to feel that way. But it doesn't do service to even your side of the matter to merely laugh away the questions posed by flat Earth proponents.

I confirm Gary is no flat earth believer. We had a guy on this forum , Kernel Mustard, who was a real flat earth believer some years ago. We had a PM with Gary , him, me and a few other folks to discuss about this issue which last for possibly one year. The contributions and discussions in there were quite intensive and extremely interesting and I can confirm Gary is no flat earth believer. He raised doubts about the horizon curve but has been convinced with the mathematics of the height hB above see of the person taking the horizon line which explains why a ship can be seen entirely even if very far from the observer's position, like in the pics below:

LrIZj8O.jpg

More interesting he was convinced that the first step on the moon by Americans in 1969 was fake ... in fact he was right ... see the picture below .. the red and white flag is the flag of Jura region in Switzerland ... this is the proof that Switzerland was on the moon before the americans! ... Gary is absolutely right when he says USA first on the moon is fake!  :)  :)  :)

America is known for the high belief in complot theories. There are (valid) reasons why they do.

I dont know much about the moonlanding (if it was real or not) but I've read Kubrick directed it (if it wasnt real...). Anyone knows something about that?

It was all a green screen. Smoke and Mirrors. George Bush was behind this conspiracy, of course. He was responsible for 9/11 too, don't you know?

On the moon landings issue here's a link that is to a video of the three central figures of Apollo 11 themselves (Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins) in the capsule and trying to figure out the how to lie to the world on their true location. It's fascinating video that shows Neil Armstrong telling us they are 130,000 miles out, though one can clearly see they are still in low Earth orbit when the interior lights come on inside the capsule late in the video.

Another interesting story, particularly if you're Dutch, is the one where the Apollo 11 astronauts gave a moon rock to the Dutch Prime Minister in 1969 but it was later (in 2009) determined to be petrified wood. LoL 😄

China and India have planed MOON landings. I am sure they will let us all know what they find or don't find. :D

That's an impressive resume at only 23 years old.

George Bush could have been responsible, and it was most likely him, but it was mainly, and most clearly, Osama Bin Laden.

China's Chang'e-4 lunar rover has discovered an unusually colored, "gel-like" substance during its exploration activities on the far side of the moon.

If interested go read the article, easy to find !

That's the nicest underserved compliment I've ever gotten. Thank you. But there's nothing special involved on my part. Just watch the video link I provided. There's no genius here, just funny things to see.
