Does anyone can explain why this is happening? It is obviously a bug

Fans reading Strategodale ;).

Most curious, indeed. Possibly (spam)bots that fail to make an account, but good to keep an eye (or two for that matter) on it.

I had a quick browse through the user list last night and a lot seemed to have similar pages open (mostly Queenbee invitational related and some pyramid league).  I am not sure if it is possible 1 person to come in as a guest and whether it counts each page opened as a "new guest", otherwise it could very well be bots, as Nortrom suggested.

+- 170 now, that's interesting.

I expect it to group this info by either IP or sessionID, so the users should be unique.

When I'm home, with desktop (in like 13 hours) I'll open +-30 guest sessions from same the device, I'm curious as to how it'll be counted/listed.

84 now and it seems they are all open on different pages mainly from the archives. Could be one single person opening all these pages in parallel for some strange goal like trying to overload the forum or test its maximum capacity. Agree this needs to be followed up. MT shall probably liaise with admins to get some statistics info like IP etc...

It is not a single person who open all these pages. Unless he log in from different IPs the same time (or the last 15 min). I made the test as Pim wrote above and it counts 1 guest independently the number of pages I opened

Just tried it, but using incognito mode in chrome for each every separate instance, opened the " message from WCO team " lots of times,

But still, it showed 1 guest reading it. I guess it's safe to assume it groups it by IP

Good thing taskkill command exists, else I'd be closing tabs for a while :)

52 guests now and all on different pages. It's like somebody is opening each page and copying it elsewhere ... like if somebody is trying to build a "fake" stratego.com website elsewhere. MT needs to address this issue with admins urgently. MT can start flagging all those guests.

There are easier ways to accomplish that.

Guests can't be flagged.

I think it's better if you leave topics like this to people who know what they're talking about.

This has been the case for years. It might just be search engines. I don’t think there is any terrorism going on.

Normally there are about 30-40 guests at one time. 50 guests is nothing out of the ordinary. That's totally regular. 400 at one time isn't, however.

Not sure if this is the case here, but I use Google Analytics at my company and we often see occasional, huge spikes in visitor activity that we have traced to data center bots/crawlers, often Amazon, Microsoft, etc. They come from the same location, high number of sessions, very short sessions, and usually just one or two pages visited.

But usually such spikes only occur for a very short amount of time, not multiple days in a row, so this could be something completely different. Whomever runs the site (I know...) would probably have to dig in for us to really know.
