This is the place to blow off some steam talking about the way America earned its freedom!

Well, now, if Great Britain had their way in the Revolutionary War, the U.S. might have not become an independent country until the 20th century!

Benedict Arnold
Born January 14,1741
Died June 14,1801
Benedict Arnold was an American and later British military general. He was born to wealthy parents, but his family’s wealth gradually decreased. He was withdrawn from the boarding school that he was attending. Arnold then joined the militia. He was its captain.
He then joined the Continental Army. He is generally remembered for his victory at Saratoga. Arnold accepted deals for treason with British Major John Andre in 1780. He served until 1781. Benedict’s reputation was ruined. He died poor of gout on June 14,1801 in his home.

"I pray you to bear me witness that I meet my fate like a brave man." - Major John Andre, head of Intelligence for the British Army, May 2, 1750 - October 2, 1780. Quoted October 2, 1780.

Ummm.... No, I have a decent knowledge of figures of the revolution, and lots of people in the US know about Arnold's notoriously traitorous acts. If you live in America you learn about him in grade school- retaining that information is another issue, however.
