Sneaky Rejoins

The MT mentioned this in our October discussions here: http://forum.strateg...t-october-2018/

But it is repeated here to clarify that it will indeed become part of the new ruleset being worked on this year. The language we will add to the disconnecter penalty rules is this:

One of the few nasty tricks some players do is rejoining after a disconnect (DC) and hoping the opponent has gone away from keyboard (AFK). By being AFK, your buffer time would eventually run out. Of course, the MT will differentiate between a legitimate DC and return to the game, versus what we call a " sneaky rejoin " after an extended period. Players reported and found guilty of SR will serve a one week ban and have 50 points deducted, potentially on top of other punishments handed out.

If someone beat me with a 'sneaky rejoin' I would just have to say well done to them. I certainly would not want to publicize my foolishness by reporting the outcome!

.
A victory screen will be required for the disconnect claim in the first place, so by definition you can't make this claim if you have lost. Often the rejoining party will quickly disconnect again after you prove you were attentive, and that is the telltale sign.
