astros has proposed to repurpose the TC Hall of Fame so that it actually operates like a Hall of Fame - with players inducted by vote.

How would you propose this work?

To be picky, the existing Hall of Fame doesn’t just list results - it lists the top finishers. Perhaps the existing Hall of Fame can be renamed into a Corridor of Fame.

I see my proposal as a supplement and not a replacement.

I propose the following criteria for voters:
1. Has played in at least three events run by either the TC or OWC.
2. Has played in one event run by the groups listed above in the last 12 months.
3. Played in their first TC or OWC tournament more than 24 months ago.
4. Is in good standing

Voting:
Any player who has participated in 3 TC or OWC will appear on the ballot unless previously ineligible.
Each voter receives 5 votes, though you could do more for the initial ballot. Once a year, voters may give one vote to any player on the ballot who they feel is deserving.
Voters do not have to use all their votes but must use at least one to be counted in the totals.
A player may not vote for themselves, but their vote is not counted against their total if they are up for induction.
Players receiving votes from at least 75 percent of voters are inducted.
Players receiving less than 10 percent of the vote are removed from future ballots until they place in the top 10 of a TC or OWC event.

Open to tweaks but that is the basic idea. I figure it will promote community involvement

I like the idea.

My initial reaction would be that the process could be a lot simpler. I’d probably counter that:

1. TC should produce a shortlist of 4 candidates
2. Players are eligible to vote if they have participated in 5 tournaments.
3. Players get 2 votes.

Wouldn't this turn into a popularity contest?

If you've participated in a few tournaments and had good results, why would those achievements be forgotten? Whether you like it or not, the #3 of a 2014 tournament (whoever it may be.. just an example) still earned this recognition.

Astros intends this as an addition (not a replacement of the current Hall of Fame).

But yes, a vote would mean that popularity may have an impact. (The alternative to that would be that TC just decides).

Ok, missed that it'd be an addition.

Fine then, I guess. Feels a bit pointless, but no harm done.

We’ll cross your name off the list then ;-)
