It is said that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. I, like a lot of other players have had large helpings of abuse every now and then, but my faith in human kindness is restored when I meet a really nice player.
The other day I was playing and losing badly, making all kinds of school boy errors. To be honest, my dog could have played better than me on that day. But as I was saying gg etc, this player offered me a draw when it was obvious to both of us that I had lost. He then said 'As always'. He wasn't worried about the win or points, but just wanted a nice game. He is so polite, and an ambassador and credit to his country and the game. It is refreshing to meet a player with manners who just wants to have a good game. I know what he means - some of my best games are where I have lost and just marvelled at the skill of the player that beat me.
I just think it's worth mentioning nice stories as they don't always get told.
Maybe there should be a hall of fame (or list) where you nominate a nice player. It would offset the list of ne'er-do-wells.
