I think Wnehme (and many others here) would disagree with you. It seems Wnehme plays a lot and often is abused by mean-spirited players. I still experience about a 50% disconnect rate when I play, but I stopped reporting disconnectors for two reasons: I no longer felt it had any effect as those players I had reported and were penalized were still disconnecting after multiple Elo point deductions; and, I was not going to acknowledge an MT I felt had done damage to this community–now, he's been removed.
I wholeheartedly agree with you @communard, it is much more fun and productive when making the effort to promote a friendly environment during a match than not.
I acknowledged that this was just my personal experience. Others' experiences may differ. I've been playing for a few years and up until a few months back I was fairly regularly encountering people who spewed out slurs and insults the whole game regardless of how it went. I stopped playing at several points just because I was tired of dealing with people's egos in a silly game. I rarely reported anything because there was so much bad behavior I assumed there was essentially no moderation. Obviously there's still some bad behavior going on, but i'm not encountering the all out rage that used to be a common feature on this site. I don't care so much about disconnectors and other issues that are harder to deal with. It's the blowout anger in the chat that destroys the game for me.
I understand the mods are volunteers so I appreciate their efforts. If other people are still encountering major problems with the site, they should recognize that the company is using the mods as a buffer to insulate themselves from criticism. I'd suggest you elevate your concerns to the company.
If the mods are frustrated with the limits of what they can do, annoyed at being the target of people's anger, or just tired of providing an important service without remuneration, I would encourage them to get organized and go on strike. I'm sure the community would support them, and the company would have to respond because there's no way the site can function without the mods. If you're providing a vital service, you should get paid for it, and as long as you aren't, you have all the leverage in the relationship.
