Happy New Year, everyone!

In case anyone is interested, and for whatever small measure of transparency it offers, we thought we'd publish all the warning letters that we request admins to send out to defendants whom we find guilty (or in some cases merely close to it). They are below.

"Disconnection and/or Abusive Time Wasting Warning Letter: You have been issued a Disconnection or Abusive Time Wasting penalty for violating the MT policy on these matters. Depending on the exact offense, your account will have had 50 points deducted from it, or 50 points plus a one-week ban from playing the game, or even BOTH penalties, meaning a 100 point deduction from your account and a one-week ban.

Please see the public posting of the enforcement on this matter in the forum for more details. You can find that here: http://forum.strateg...ters-here-2018/

Please note that further similar incidents will incur the same penalty as the current one."
------------------------------

"1st Degree Draw Refusal Offense Warning Letter: You have been issued a 1st degree penalty for draw refusal. See the current 'Report Draw Refusals Here' topic under Multiplayer General Discussion in the forum for details. http://forum.strateg...ral-discussion/

If your offense was in a 40 piece game, then 113 points will be deducted from your account. If it was in a Quick Arena (or Quick Battles) game, then you will not receive any points deduction, but rather will be banned from playing for ONE WEEK.

Please note that if the game is an obvious tie situation, it is not acceptable to prolong the game and waste your opponent’s time hoping he will give up. If your opponent asks for a tie and you reject it, then it is your responsibility to make an attempt to win the game. In this case, if no progress is made in 10 minutes and you reject a second tie request from your opponent, you are in violation of our rules.

If you are found in violation of this policy a second time within twelve months your account will be reset to 100 ELO, or you will be banned for ONE MONTH if a Quick game is involved. See official rules here for more information:
http://forum.strateg...nd-forum-rules/ or the specific draw refusal rules here: http://forum.strateg...125#entry444125"

"2nd Degree Draw Refusal Offense Warning Letter: You have been issued a 2nd degree penalty for draw refusal. See the current 'Report Draw Refusals Here' topic under Multiplayer General Discussion in the forum for details. http://forum.strateg...ral-discussion/

--------------------------------

"One-Time Reminder Letter: You have previously been sent a serious warning letter about violations you have committed in games or in the Forum. This letter is a friendly reminder that although we don't find it warrants your being permanently banned, a recent incident involving you goes against the spirit of that letter. Please refrain from any further questionable activity, draw refusal, use of profanity, abusive chat, or personal attacks toward other people in the future. This friendly reminder can only be issued once for violations of each type.

Every offense will expire 12 months from its conviction date by the MT. If you commit another offense before this expiration (sunset) of any of your offenses, similar violations in the future could cause you to be permanently banned from either the forum only or the entire game site. Please refer to the rules here:
http://forum.strateg...rum-rules-2016/ for more information."

"Unacceptable Name Letter: The Moderator Team (MT) has decided your game side user/forum name is unacceptable and has temporarily been put into "Renamed(date)" status. During this status your login data through Stratego.com will remain the same and you may still freely play games and comment on the forum. In addition, your playing statistics and rank will remain unchanged. The only thing different is that your temporary new name will be in the form "Renamed(date)".

You may suggest a new and acceptable username via pm directly to any MT member. They are listed in green under the Group column found here
: forum.stratego.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras§ion=stats&do=leaders

If the MT accepts your new game side/forum member name, your temporary "Renamed (date)" name will be deactivated and you will soon see your statistics and rank transferred to the new permanent name of your choice. Otherwise, you will remain with the "Renamed(date)" name.

If you do not suggest an acceptable new name to the Moderator Team within one month, the MT may choose a new one for you. If this happens, you will be notified via another email from admins of your new name. Again, your login passwords, statistics and rank will all remain the same.

For more information please refer to the rules here:
http://forum.strateg...rum-rules-2016/"

"1st & 2nd Offense Double/Multiple Chasing Warning Letter: You have been issued a loss of game adjustment (a 25 point rating deduction) for a violation of our anti-double/multiple chasing rules. We understand that not everyone is familiar with all the game rules for Stratego, and so no other penalties will be incurred by you at this time. Please simply be reminded of the rule announced here: forum.stratego.com/topic/359036-mt-announcement-new-multiple-chasing-enforcement/?p=457190#entry457190

and be advised accordingly by this warning letter. If you do not violate this rule again for 12 months, this penalty will fall off your record due to our sunset policy.

As a reminder of this rule, if you control a chasing situation with your opponent where you alternate threatening his piece(s) in a fashion that circumvents the Two Squares Rule but you cannot capture any piece you chase, and your opponent cannot quit the situation without giving up a piece being chased, then this is double or even multiple chasing by you. It is unacceptable to continue this behavior beyond a certain point.

If your opponent has asked you to quit double/multiple chasing but you persist for longer than 5 minutes or 25 chasing moves, then you have committed a recognized violation of our double/multiple chasing rules. In addition to the loss of game penalty that you will incur, we will also apply penalty schedule shown at the link above. Note that we will not tolerate people trying to skirt the rules and the above threshold limits. For more information see the link above."

"5th Offense Double/Multiple Chasing Warning Letter: You have been issued a severe ELO to 100 rating penalty, plus you will be banned for a period of one month from the game side of the site for a 5th violation of our anti-double/multiple chasing rules. We understand that not everyone is familiar with all the game rules for Stratego, As this is your FINAL WARNING please refer to the topic at the link below and be reminded of the rule announced here: forum.stratego.com/topic/359036-mt-announcement-new-multiple-chasing-enforcement/?p=457190#entry457190

For any other violations of this policy you will be PERMANENTLY BANNED. If you do not violate this rule again for 12 months, this penalty will fall off your record due to our sunset policy.

PLEASE NOTE AGAIN THAT THIS IS THE LAST WARNING YOU WILL RECEIVE! FOR THE NEXT VIOLATION OF DOUBLE/MULTIPLE CHASING THAT YOU ARE FOUND GUILTY OF, YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY BANNED! All penalties issued by the MT expire in 12 months from the date when the MT posts the decision to admins (conviction date), and so you will be unable to play for a full year, before you can apply for a reinstatement from the MT. Please avoid repeating this offense any more times as we would rather have you than not have you on our site. For further rules see the complete GS&FR here: http://forum.strateg...rum-rules-2016/"

"Double/Multiple Chasing Friendly Reminder Letter: You are being sent this letter to remind you of our anti-double/multiple chasing rules that were announced here:
forum.stratego.com/topic/359036-mt-announcement-new-multiple-chasing-enforcement/?p=457190#entry457190

We understand that not everyone is familiar with all the game rules for Stratego, and as this rule is not enforced by the programming on the site many may be unaware of it. The official governing body of Stratego, the International Stratego Federation, or ISF, holds that double/multiple chasing is against the rules and so the MT is attempting to align with that spirit in the rules for this site. This letter is only a friendly reminder to you of that effort. You are not being punished in any way at this time.

As a reminder of the rule, if you control a chasing situation with your opponent where you alternate threatening his piece(s) in a fashion that circumvents the Two Squares Rule but you cannot capture any piece you chase, and your opponent cannot quit the situation without giving up a piece being chased, then this is double or even multiple chasing by you. It is unacceptable to continue this behavior beyond a certain point.

If it is proven that your opponent has asked you to quit double/multiple chasing but you persist for longer than 5 minutes or 25 chasing moves, then you have committed a recognized violation of our double/multiple chasing rules. For more information on penalties please refer to the link above."
