After some internal discussion within the MT we have come to the conclusion that we feel sympathetic towards the idea of having a separate MT subforum.

We are looking for feedback on what we think is a good structure. Our proposal is:

Moderator Team (MT) Forum
  Rules

  Announcements

  Reports
  - Disconnections & Abusive Time Wasting
  - Draw Refusal
  - Abusive Behavior
  - D/M Chasing
  - Other

  Ask the MT

The MT
(GaryLShelton, Major Nelson, Nortrom, Yellowhat, Losermaker)

This thread will automatically close after december 20th.

Excellent proposal.

I hereby grant explicit permission to all my opponents to record and publish my games as they see fit.

I don't like messy forum structures. My personal preference is using as few forums as necessary but not more. I do not think it is necessary to have 9 subforums for the reports system. It's too cluttered and confusing for new members.

I think the whole site's forum structure needs one big overhaul.

I agree with you that there should be a minimum amount of clutter. I interpreted the new forum structure as follows:

Under "Stratego Multiplayer" there will be only 3 subforums (currently 2):

  • Feedback
  • Moderator Team
  • General Discussion

The entire tree of how to subdivide the Moderator Team subforum is probably best done through pinnned threads within that, e.g. with "Rules" and "Announcements" as the top 2 pinnend threads, and the rest in the order that Nortrom indicated. That way, all the info is available on a single page and users should find this quite accessible.

My main motivation for proposing an MT subforum was to keep the high volume case load separate from the General Discussion page. I want to be able to see at a glance whether there is a new strategy post, or new YouTube video from a player, rather than the hourly caseload updates.

Let's not let the perfect be the enemy of the good here. A full forum overhaul can be done in the future, but moving the MT related threads to separate subforum now does not stand in the way of that longterm goal.

Frankly, I don't think there should be a singleplayer subforum at all, HUGE wate of space. Who cares about playing the computer anyway?

I agree that there shouldn't probably be a separate and equal major area for Singleplayer as Multiplayer, and maybe we could indeed help space out by getting rid of it, or chopping it down at least. We should see if something's possible there.

I do disagree about the sentiment on playing the computer. Lots can be learned by someone playing Probe who's beginning. Unfortunately, here it's such a stupid exercise to play the computer that one will actually grow worse if he plays it.

I believe this is what the new sub-forum would currently look like:

Action Request has been made to make changes to the forum structure.

Moderator Team (MT) Forum
- Rules
- Announcements
- Reports
- Ask the MT

Should there be a feeling, eventually, whether among community or MT, that for example "reports" could use different areas ( for all report types ) we'll happily address this.

As an update for everyone, admins have been absent for 3 weeks now and so for this item we've been waiting to hear whether it's possible or not, and we still are waiting.
