To the orga team : Please consider splitting the $500 prize evenly and not winner takes all, i think that would bring more players in . Good luck with organizing and kudos for daring to try something that has never being done!

America is a winner-takes-all society, and players can always agree side payments (in poker this is common)

Chicago is home to lots of financial markets traders who would love this. Be sure to distribute leaflets of the tourney at their buildings.

I think TemplateRex has great idea there. I would suggest that NASF try to get message out to local high schools/Prep-schools/Community College/Colleges. Just email info link to these groups and or narrow search field to math/chess clubs a fine pool of possible prospects I feel. This does have potential only draw back could be weather.

Correction : evenly not the correct word. I was thinking somewhat along the lines of 250/150/100.
Also Swiss is not the ideal format to make poker-like deals.
