Not that I will pretend to know a lot about football. I've just watched some of the elimination games so I will comment on those only.

Belgium has some impressive wins like 2-1 over Brazil and a 3-2 comeback over Japan

Croatia had a very nice win against Russia (was definitely rooting for them)

England's game with Colombia was very heated. I thought Colombia was going to win in the end because the momentum was in their favor and England was the first to miss a PK.

Probably France has best chance to win , however I am rooting for England :)

Yes, many of the games have been on Fox, but for some of the group stage games my local Spanish station was the only one broadcasting.

Hard to predict who is going to win now. Top 4 of 2014 and 2010 are out! (Maybe also 2006 and 2002!).

Molto Bene, Thats a nica Donut !

I spent this AM asking a variety of different FLAGS/players who would win. I am not sure about how much any of us know about the sport but the majority of those polled selected Croatia as the winner of The Cup. Myself-- thinks England , I am in with Fairway !  :D

I missed France completely, but they are very good. I saw parts of Belgium- France, nice match. Croatia however, Im impressed about since 2014. I think a lot of the stars are the same. It will be a nice final!

It's a conspiracy.

My evidence for this is that there were a couple of corners that should have been given that weren't. Also the referee's uncles dog is called Zagreb.

Yeah, I specifically remember a corner that wasn't awarded to England, although the assistant referee was next to the ball and must have seen it go out. It's obvious that the result of this match was predetermined by the refs.

I watch not enough soccer anymore but I like to name a few great defenders when I was young(er).

- Jaap Stam (he made Ronaldinho invisible in his later years at AC Milan). He was very strong and made long runs sometimes. Had a good shot too.
- Nesta
- Soll Campbell (enourmous guy, very strong, fear of every striker)
- John Terry topclass for a long period
- Lucio
- Canavaro (not as good as the former but won best player award, very rare for a defender)
- Rio Ferdinand (In this period England was magnificant on paper)
- Vidic
- Thuram (France record international) maybe the best of all.

I probably forget some. ( not counting backs like Riise, Maldini, Puyol, Evra, Asley Cole, Roberto Carlos, Maicon and, Gallas.
