Can you please clarify the eligibility requirements to play on a team?

Each country or federation sets its own requirements in order to determine the composition of its national team. The Organising Committee of the WTT does not exclude any player from participating as long as they get accepted at a team.

As a matter of fact, we considered setting writing a post at the Alias Register as a requirement, but decided not to do so since the WTT is a tournament closely related to the WCO, which does not have this requirement. This way, we give the opportunity to players who participated at the WCO but not at TC tournaments because they haven't written a post at the Alias Register to compete in the WTT.

Presumably, I cannot play for North Korea. I was asking what are the requirements to play for a country's national team.

Obviously, you have to be a citizen of this country. If you are interested to participate then you should contact NASF.

What if I am a permanent resident (resident alien) of another country?

The ISF allows resident aliens to play for the countries where they reside.

Yes, you are allowed to play for a country you are a permanent resident of, too. Is this the case with you and another country?

I don't feel a RoW is in the spirit of a national team tournament. I would consider playing for a Swiss team if there were sufficient players.

Are we allowed to switch alternates during the tournament?

No, you have to agree on an alternate before the tournament starts.

Can I make a late rule change suggestion?

From my reading of the rules, the teams with the most points in the group stage advance to the semi-finals. How each team performs in a match as a whole is not considered unless there is a tie. This places the focus on the results of players and not the team. Since this is a team tournament, I recommend that the committee award 2-1-0 points based on which team scores more points in a match (ie UK vs Netherlands is 5-3, then the UK gets 2 points). Total team points can still be used as a tiebreak, similar to goals for in football. This puts an emphasis on team results.

Live WC country team doesn't count towards the ranking as sometimes it is favorable for the team to take a draw in one match (2-5 - 1.5 win) for example. Or if your team is behind 2-1 you may want to take more risks to equalize. (which of course can backfire severely). I reckon same reasoning is used for the WTT online.
