"Unlike some other documents floating around here, this is actually written by a 4 times live WC without fabricated stories. The background may, especially on the screenshots"

Those other documents floating around are of value as well, thanks for sharing anyway Pim!

Hi all. I’m pretty new to this game and have found that my greatest struggle is mounting an effective attack. I can defend fairly well imo, but without a good offense, I feel like I’m playing catch-up the whole game. What can I do to improve? Thanks!

I'm not that good of an attacker.  I'm much better at counterattacking.  One thing you can do is really concentrate and try to remember every piece that moved on your opponents side.  Pay at least 3 times as much time watching what your opponent does than what you do.  I lose quite a few close games because I forget if a piece has moved or not.  You don't want to waste scouting pieces on pieces that have already moved.  Every piece counts and is important.

Here's a video analysis on the problems you face if your marshal gets revealed early in the game.  https://youtu.be/4P606YePcok

Watch the video at 1.5x speed.  I sound better and will save you time.  Remember Stratego is a game of planning.

Here is a list to most of my Stratego vids I have ever made: https://www.youtube....UEOvhFtax5tRHsx

It might not have the best tips and tricks but it has hours of different playstyles, laughs, and overall randomness.

Enjoy.

You're a good teacher, Dobby.

Thanks.  I make a lot of mistakes so I can certainly tell players how not to play.  :)

Here's a game where I attacked by sacrificing some pieces to trap my opponent with the 2 square rule.

Nortrom,

Your guide is very helpful. Will you distribute the whole thing sometime? I think something like this is long overdue on this forum. I would like to see a Stratego wiki.

I don´t think it´ll ever be published in its current state. It could be much better, but it also is very time consuming, time I currently don´t have. Some players have received a copy way back, on a non-disclosure condition. Some parts shamelessly being paraphrased and being presented as their own knowledge doesn't exactly put this at the top of my priorities.

One day.. though, but that could be in a far future :).
