Shawn White just brought home Gold! We seem to be deficient in other areas this time, but at least we have good snowboarders.

The young lady (kim/gold) for the USA did very well in snowboarding also. On side note her folks immigrated from Korea -they seemed to come full circle ,nice story !

Top 10 was good enough rgillis :). Hope we can finish 3th but Canada is on the roll! And our Sjinkie kicks everyone of the (short)track which costed him 3 disqualifications :(. But our ladies got lucky today, they won the b-group with a WORLD RECORD(!) and later got the bronce medal after 2 disqualifications at the a-final :D

Yes Don you are correct Top 10 would have been good enough but did not want to leave out Tonga/Togo & Turkey etc. All kidding aside I apologize , I got busted by Sgt. B yesterday for misspelling/grammar .Took a loss in a match this AM to a higher rank forum member both of us under alias accts. and now this mess. I gotta stop putting stuff in my coffee or start drink coffee first then post/play then add to coffee, something needs to change ! Your also 100% correct, Canada is strong. Thanks for adding to post : )

USA men's hockey team lost to the Czech team yesterday. It is now up to the ladies to bring home the Gold they face a challenging   Canadian  women's team. Best of luck to both teams along with others still in competition. I really hoped this thread would gain some     traction ,Olympics only come around so often-every four years !

You are doing allright though! I saw Vonn got also a bronce medal. We Dutchies are good at hockey, but surprisingly I never saw a Dutch team play icehockey.

Wonderful day for us. Not Sjinkie, but Suzanne Schulting won our first ever shorttrack gold on the olympics! I witnessed her fenomenal races (on tv) and it was thrillingly good! Chapeau!

In the meantime USA won some ski and Icehockey gold in a thrilling final. You have overtaken us on the medal race and we wont come back.

However tomorrow our ice skaters go for 1 maybe 2 medals on 1000meters. Probably our last medals if Kjeld Nuis doesnt choke like Sven Kramer!

Yes, I've been too depressed to post here.  The Winter Olympics have been my favorite sporting event since I was 5 years old and watched the bobsled with my dad.  The USA is just not doing good this time though.  Where are the stars?  We used to dominate women's figure skating.  Now we've got nobody.  The only big name is Lindsey and she's struggling.  Where are the Apolo Ono's, Dan Jansen's, etc.  We've got the largest contingent but tiny countries outpace us.   :(

I forgot about the speed skating mass start today. Our last chance to beat USA in the medal race. Exciting races but we were not good enough for gold medals. 2 times bronce was all right though. And it was fun to see Sven Kramer race and prepare his first ever massstart races. He was laughing and having fun with his helmet on. I never see him so relaxed before a race. For the final he was more focussed though and he had a nice try for gold.

Funny was also that Ivanka Trump was on the tribune next to our young gold winner on 5km: Esmee Visser. She explained her the rules.

Yesterday our Kjeld Nuis crowned king of the speedskaters of Pyongchang with his second gold (1000meter). That made him also best Dutchie overall these Olympics.

Endceremony will follow soon. That will bring us some news about the global politics.

Just watched the replay of the US men's curling team winning gold!  I was watching it live last night but fell asleep halfway through.  What a comeback to win 5 games straight after being on the verge of elimination!  I have to admit I thought curling was kindof stupid for years but it's really grown on me this time around.  A very strategic game.

Could not add the past couple of days-glad to see others(Don,Darth,222900VoRselaar) did.I tried to cut and paste the latest results-had some issue sorry.  I narrowed the list this time of the Medal count per the suggestion of others(Don).

County                        Medal Count   Gold Silver Bronze  Total

Norway                                                 13    14       11        38

Canada                                                 11     8       10        29

Germany                                               13    8         7         28

USA                                                         9    8         6        23

Netherlands                                             8    6         6        20

Russia                                                      1   6          9        16

South Korea/ Switzerland                       5      6        4        15 tied

Would also add there is some Bobsleding on in 5 hours for those interested. The Gold medal  Ice Hockey match will start in aprox. 7 hrs. I would give specific times but  they would be different for all so-do some math : )
