You lose your cool when opp shows his marshal early!
In the first game he hasn't even taken anything and plays cautiously, so I would just have stood very still with all my pieces on the right. You have some fantastic defensive values there vs a blitzer. Just attack with small pieces through the center and try and locate his general and bombs before you start lotto-ing.
In the second game it was indeed very annoying and nasty that he took your colonel, but colonel vs marshal info is not game losing. Also he stopped lottoing and he has started on the wrong side of the board, so you have oodles of time again to attack through the center, again looking for bombs and his general.
Any time when you play vs a silver player as a gold player, use a setup with decent defenses vs early marshals. Flag in one of the 4 center spots, spy behind the lake (1st/2nd row) on the side of the flag and 1-2 early bombs on the other side.
