I will be starting a quick arena tournament, which will commence on Monday 1/29/2018. A lot of players including myself enjoy the smaller 10 piece game. At the moment, TC have a tight schedule with no plans to run a QA tournament, so I will be organizing one independently.
Players may state their interest and sign up here. The signups will be open now, and will run until Sunday 1/28/2018 at 19 GMT. This is a period of about 2 weeks. All players are expected to read the short list of rules below, before signing up.
You may also ask any questions here, if you have any.
Tournament Structure and Rules
-The tournament will begin on Monday, 1/29/2018.
-Any player with over 200 games is eligible to join this tournament.
-The exact duration of the tournament depends on the number of participants. It is estimated to be around 5-7 weeks.
-This will be a random-drawn double elimination tournament.
-Each round will be conducted on a best-of-3 format. A win is 1 pt, a draw is 1/2 pts and a loss is 0 points. The person who either wins 2 games, or wins 1 game with two draws will advance to the next round. If there is an inconclusive result after 3 matches, the game(s) must continue until there is a decisive winner.
-Each round will last 1 week.
Arranging your Game
-All game topics will be sent via the forum's Private Message (PM) system.
-All games must be played on Stratego.com
-Each player must name their availability for that week in their PM topic. Each player must make a decent effort to arrange their match.
-Each player must use the GMT timezone when stating their timeslots. You can find out the time conversion from your local timezone to GMT here: http://www.greenwichmeantime.com
-One both players agree on a time, the match is considered arranged.
-If the game is not arranged before Saturday 23:59GMT, the game will be automatically arranged for Sunday 19GMT.
Reporting the Result
-Each round is conducted as a best of 3 match.
-All players must continue playing until there is a decisive result.
-Once a match is complete with a decisive result, the players must report & confirm the victor in the match PM.
-It is recommended that the winner of the matches takes a screenshot, in case of a dispute.
No-Shows and Cancellations
-A player may cancel an arranged match with a minimum of 8 hours notice, otherwise the cancellation is invalid. Once a match is cancelled, the match is no longer considered arranged. Both participants will then be asked to arrange another time to play.
-If a player does not show up for an arranged match and/or is more than 15 minutes late, the other player can choose to claim victory. Screnshot evidence may be required.
Disputes, Unforseen Circumstances and Disqualifications
-If a player is booted from the site during the setup phase, the game must immediately restart.
-Other instances of disconnects/server failures will be judged on a case by case basis. Screenshot evidence is recommended to show the progress of the game before the disconnect. In most cases, a rematch will be necessary. In other cases, one player will be awarded the victory.
-All players are expected to be civil and sportsmanlike, both on the forum and on the battlefield. Instances of extreme unsporting behavior may result in that player's disqualification from this tournament.
-All other disputes will be handled independently by myself.
