Reporting Mountain1 for an unbelievable amount of repetitive harassment. There are about a million more examples from our chat, but here are several examples.

I honestly feel sorry for this guy... his greatest goal is to make other players wait 2 more minutes instead of setting a real goal like reaching platinum... so pathetic.

I think you may have a bug when calculating points.

There is some kind of bug, you're right.  But it always seems to reset itself correctly for me.  In the next game or two you should receive the correction for points it didn't give you this time.  Or, this could be the correction for a previous game error.  That's what usually happens at least.

To the MT:

You explained that Admin has been unable to delete this account. Have they formatted the entry name correctly? It is as follows:

(space)12(space)

There is one <space> before the number 12, and then one <space> immediately following...if this is not formatted correctly, then I can see why they would not have been able to effect the deletion. You may verify this on the Leaderboard–enter too many spaces or not enough, the moniker will not show up.

Good luck.

Please do something with the runners - 50% of games I win end with opponents disconnecting.

I suggest taking 5pts from each runner and giving these points to the winner each time game ends with disconnection.

People will not disconnect on purpose.

If the penalty is small but systematic, and if winner is additionally rewarded, the intentional disconnections will stop.

Some prorated penalty could be applied for games with large buffer difference between players.

I think this is a horrible Idea. If your playing via pc just go to another page do something else for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. if ur playing on phone u can close app and come back 2 mins and 20 seconds just to make sure ur opponent didn't reconnect. Disconnecting is hardly a problem compared to  endless chasing and 15 seconds per move.

I disagree with you. The reason being that you assume these opponents that disconnect care about ELO, or ranking, or much of anything directly related to Stratego–they don't. How do I know? Because I have been on here long enough to know that most people come here for a match, but really have not developed any kind of in depth understanding of the game. There are people here with more than 7,000 games and they are (and will probably end their days) never beyond silver colonel...if even that.

The players who respect others, the players that surrender instead of disconnect, the players that are always growing and developing their skill...many are here on the Forum and they are not usually prone to disconnecting, double chasing, and wasting someone's time with 15 seconds per move. Sure, there are some decent players who resort to these tactics on occasion, but most of the serious players do not disconnect.

BIG DEAL if some loser disconnects, and even BIGGER DEAL if you have to wait two and a half minutes...readjust your point of view to deal with a disconnect as follows:

1) Laugh, because they can't handle losing

2) You out played them and they couldn't handle it

3) You hit your opponent so hard that they think their pathetic disconnect will upset you...WRONG...

    you're laughing, remember?

4) Wait patiently, glowing in the fact that you ae good enough to have destroyed your opponent

5) Think about your loved one and how proud they are that you are not a loser

6) Laugh again...why? Your opponent is a loser and you are not.

7) Only losers disconnect instead of a brisk surrender.

You admit the runners want to upset the winner.

They will not have this benefit if they instead reword the winner with extra points.

You miss the crux of the matter completely–

THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT POINTS ! ! !

You care about points, but they do not, and that is why your idea won't work as you would like to think it would.

I admit nothing–I stated my supposition which I believe is valid...they want to upset someone like you...and...if you are foolish enough to get upset, then they have beaten you in this respect. So, why play into their stupid mind-game when all you have to do is laugh it off?

We are aware of this, Robert.  Thanks for the post, though.  It's not the only problem with this guy.  The situation is frustrating to us as well.

The "runners" are more commonly called "disconnecters", but this is an issue I personally agree with you on, mazuzam.  Disconnecting is an offense that runs in spurts and often I get two or three in a row.  Waiting 2:30 is one thing, but I personally believe there's a glitch in the system because I often have players disconnecting more than once with a fresh 2:30 each time!  That may be a function of the new app, though.  Not sure.

I would disagree with your penalty suggestions, however, and in particular the awarding of points to the victim of the purposeful disconnection.    That, I assure you, won't fly.  The last time we put this matter up seriously the consensus was for a 25 point ELO hit to the culprits.  It needs to be more than 5.  That's hardly worth bothering admins about.  I personally would vote for 50 points an incident. Not uncommonly I have the disconnecters come back online and make a move.  I know they're just hoping to catch me asleep at the wheel or gone to the bathroom.  Anyone doing this deserves a special place in the lower hereafter in my book.  The perpetrators of this behavior might not care about their ELO as Robert has suggested but they'll cease to be a problem to you and me if they lose enough points and drop out of yours and my range over the matter.  50 points a whack might not be the number. Maybe 25 is going to be again.  But if we finally start doing something about these guys, we all might experience less of the problem.

Doing this is still entirely possible, though it's never going to be foolproof.  We would have to do it based upon the white writing most of the time, as was laid out before, while occasionally a BattleChat conversation might establish the issue.  The main thing is the workload for the MT.  It would be an entirely experimental thing for us to do and might not last if the workload is too great.

I totally agree.  They don't care about points.  Just laugh it off.

I always thought if I didn't get a few disconnects during a week of play, I wasn't playing well or trying hard enough.  And if they start cursing at you in chat, I usually respond with a simple "gg".
