That was a pretty good read. Some ideas for next posts:

- Rare stratego games

- Funny arbitrage cases

- Barrage vs 10 piece game

I suppose the live board game collection I have and 10 vs 8 piece are the most interesting :)

There is a legendary Franklin Mint Stratego board, with gold and silver colored pieces. Theme is the American Civil war.

I think that is the most exclusive one I have seen so far.

I was following one of these on eBay and it appears to have sold
for 800 US dollars last week. The seller started his price at 1000$. I really did not think it would sell for more than two hundred but apparently I was very wrong.

I will give it a thought, as you know one of my recent projects was a skill test for referees in a pdf document.

Some of the cases in there are close to the ones encountered in live games.

Will try to think of some cases, but some of  the most memorable ones I was involved in were at the Thessaloniki live world championship.

When reading the forums today I saw posts from another online tournament in 2015 dealing with similar stuff as we are dealing with in the WCO arbitrage.

Some topic ideas: a portrait of normal everyday ISF arbiter experiences would be interesting for those of us that have never played a live ISF game. Or, possibly, the things a newbie to the live ISF game should be aware of, like common misunderstandings, errors, the number one mistake made by live newbies, etc.

Hi Nortrom !
Very interesting post you make . It is very common on every sport/game that the younger generations eventually surpass the previous ones.

A very interesting example were last year's Greek championships, where 4 of the first 8 places were won by juniors (OVERLORD 1st, Henry Domerkant 3rd, ELISSAIOS-GR 4th and roeczak 8th) while two of the greatest Greek players of the past generation in Aris1970 and KARAISKAKIS were lower.

I especially enjoy Major Nelson's success as I along with Henry D. were the ones who basically got him into the game and convinced him to continue playing (once he had experienced defeats and quit for about a month or two) . I think along with OVERLORD they are the two players that I would single out as potential Greek WC-winners in the future.

I enjoy your blog very much. Please continue your contributions to the community.

Unfortunately I have not been able to write much recently, due to various reasons, including computers that cause a week worth of trouble.

New post about WC Ukraine (2008) can be found here

Next topic: WCO 2017/2018

@ Roeczak: I kind of forgot to respond to your post, so here it goes:

Absolutely correct and this is a healthy thing and also increases the skill level among players. Some tournaments the "old ones" will still be able to dominate, sometimes the youngsters will take over. I must admit that Major_Nelson has, as I can tell by his results, improved a lot recently.

Should you have any interestings topic I could cover, feel free to make some suggestions :)

Speaking of fresh blood and new champions I just noticed that 5 out of the top 10 of the WCO's final standings are u20, quite impressive!
