Here's a fun one -

When you forget about a requested game while waiting, and come in a few minutes in with pieces having been filled automatically!

Yeah, there should be an audible ding when the opponent is found.

Hah - yeah, unfortunately I always have my Stratego tab muted because the sound effects are so annoying.

Rest assured it doesn't matter. There is no audible ding even if you have your sound turned on. :)

Question related to #39

Hi Despy,

Maybe I am not good enough in Stratego, but please let me know how you succeed to win from the

http://imgur.com/a/JpxGV situation? I see only a clear tie here, if the defending person do not makes errors.

The defending person has two pieces that may move between two positions, so 4 square roles may not work here.

yes that position should be a tie if the defending player does not make any mistakes.

Hey yes, good catch! I think at the time I was thinking double chasing would be prevented. My opponent must have assumed the same since he ended up taking the miner and letting me capture the flag -

Cheers

Hi,

I have a channel on YouTube, which shows lots of my games, with commentary. Some of them have been very satisfying for me in different ways.

Check out some of these links.

https://www.youtube....h?v=sYP1Q9obKcg    (A stunning end ,from a scout on the back row,of a flag capture which was surrounded by bombs)

https://www.youtube....h?v=yO6f1g6MIX0     ( A true test of a "never say die" attitude.)

https://www.youtube....h?v=WBxuJrVzlFY     (Trapping a rogue scout,with 3 pieces.)

https://www.youtube....h?v=MHESp6S6FRs   (The last game of this stream, shows "lady luck" in her most beautiful outfit.)

Enjoy & feel free to like, comment & subscribe.

Bob, I watched your last game from yesterday last night.  At the end, I kept on saying "get that miner, get that miner" before you lose. That might be your favorite, lucky setup now.

It just goes to show you, you should never give up if you still can attack.  Miracles happen.

Couldn't agree more Dobby!

I think I'll be smiling about that win for a long time.

Great post. The videos helps up understand why these wins are satisfying (especially the first video when you capture the flag with the scout).

Actually I was looking for such a topic right now :D.

I just had a really bad game experience: my opponent (whose name i wont tell here, as i have no proof of his bad sportsmanship) had front row marsh and lottoed my entire right flank having his general protecting the centre. As my setup was not an antilottosetup and my high pieces were positioned very awkwardly i quickly was far behind (2 Maj, 3 Cap, some lieut and searg). Continuing the game i had to take some risks but it turned out i knew almost every single piece. Additionally i had captured all his miners and his spy. Both knowing each others marsh i requested a tie, which he did not accept (tryied to screenshot the situation, but didnt work? preparing for a long time of shuffeling as it was obviously another draw refuser (over 6000 games played and 0 ties)).

So i shuffled around my marsh avoiding his. Quick overview of his pieces : 1 marsh 1 searg 2 maj 1 col 1 lieut.

And now my bombplacement shined :D. trying to get my miners he sacrifized piece after piece.making a terrible mistake with his marsh that allowed me to trade marshalls with him only having a searg left- bombed of course lol. Quite a satisfying feeling to win against such a player, who lottoes with front row marsh without even using pieces to scout. Being able to punish someone for lotto, terrible gameplay and mistakes as well as for drawrefusal is sooo satisfying. Especially if you are behind that much, caused by stupid rushing in.

I mean I had experienced winning against a drawrefuser, which already is very satisfying, but punishing for all at once?! It must be my lucky day :D

Im sure everyone with a similar game will agree to that.

Great detail and win. The only thing that would have made that win more satisfying is if that player started trash chat after getting the advantage. After turning the table on them those types either go silent, get really irrational with the chat, or disconnect.

Well, well well. Who would have thought that Henry Domerkant is really a disconnecting loser. He tried to cheat on me by disconnecting for more than a minute when lost. Then came back, probably hoping I would be off my guard as I had a low buffer left. Then he called me lucky and I took his flag in the end. So I guess no punishable offense but I would say unsportive behavior at the least.

It made the win more satisfying, so I put this in this topic. Not the most spectacular story but I'd like to mention it.

For the record: Lanfear is an alias of mine as registered in the alias register.

It seems that Henry hurt you a lot by reporting me for nothing
You told me cheater and looser
I admit that i disconeccted in purpose certainly because i was very nervous after this suiceide( moghedien best win is one that his opponent loose his own match )
I accept any logical punishement
As for you moghedien and other players who never play in their first account can change their name in the forum as account moghedien for example never plays

I am not reporting you for this. I even do not ask for a punishment. I just want it to be known that you are a cheat. Nothing more, nothing less. From now on, I will not react to any of your posts anymore. I do not care what you call me or what you think of me. It seems you do not have my play in very high regard as people can only lose their own match against me as you like to call it. You can have your opinion. I just play my game. I will never be one of the best, but most will not.

You just admitted to disconnecting on purpose. I have never done that to anyone and never will. It is simply cheating. For the record: I never called you a loser and I only call you a cheater because it is a proven fact. You are not even offering apologies.

Send a thousand more posts after this, I will not ever react to a post of you again.

Good night

Henry Domerkant & Moghedien–both of you are highly valued and well known participants on this site. Both of you have participated in many tournaments and have distinguished yourselves as formidable Stratego players. It truly saddens me that there was this incident in which both of you were involved.

Henry–we know you can be a bit of a hot-head, but it was right of you to acknowledge your part in this scenario.

Moghedien–Although you have been honorable and have registered in the "Alias Registry," and you know who Henry Domerkant is, did you identify yourself before the game with Henry commenced?

I really would like to see a friendly settlement between the two of you–both of you have unique skills and personality, and both of you are truly valued for your participation in the tournament play.

How about it, gentlemen?

I can at least tell you why I did not make myself explicitly known upfront. Last time we played he lotto'd the crap out of me and took 4 pieces that had not moved with his general. Probably he does not like my style of play. I thought I would not make him the wiser although my account Lanfear is known and I play with that one and/or with my moghedien account. He tried to cheat on an unknown player to him, who had done nothing wrong, except in his view shuffling is a crime. He was the one shuffling around at one point in the game however.

In the end I do not care about gameplay. I an opponent wants to lotto, he lottos. I find that irritating as most of you do, but I cannot say he is a cheat because of that. This however, guys, is obviously an attempt to cheat. He admits it himself. And no, admitting is is not an apology in my view.

Ι shuffle when i had a huge disadvantage
I couldnt even lotto because you knew all my pieces
In the end game i played much better and it was a huge miskate to let your major pass and caprure my miner
Thats why i call you lucky
I dont even care if you dont tell me who you are
Personnaly i play almost only with Henry and i dont have sth to hide
My only abusive behaviour is becaoming nervous sometimes
Finally i am pretty sure that many other players have disconnected vs you but you dont say nothing
You just have a serious problem with me after winning you in the tournament game and without being sure i think i have won your alias some times also without knowing its you
