Thanks for your comments, I really appreciate them.
Haven't seen the second game yet.
First game, if the lottod piece is lower than a captain then Dairou is 90% to win, game over if a bomb. So all down to that move really.
I knew dairou had some majors near the middle in case I kept on trading and trying to take the spy. I wasn't worried about the bombs because usually when someone has this kind of setup (marshal attack with gen in centre), the weak side will be bombed off, and the higher ranked pieces will be towards the middle to defend the spy and that side of the board.
Yes it was a risk (I was behind at the time), but I believe the odds to be within my favour!
...i like very much your bluffy marsh behind this bomb in the middle .... next time you play against me you could even make it more bluffy and bomb him competely in behind 3 bombs ... lol!!!
Dairou and I have had some interesting games. Sometimes he opts for a more blitz-style setup (like he did in our match), sometimes it's a bit more defensive. I chose to have the marshal in a slightly unusual place to catch him out...that particular tactic didn't work this time but it's always worth trying!
Haha... not sure it's the best idea closing my Marshal behind bombs. Maybe you should try that one first?
First of all it’s very nice that beside your personal fun, you want to share and help some others with these videos since the site does not provide this opportunity. Personally I find the friendly games as a good opportunity for training on new tactics and set-ups, but also offer and strengthening relations between players(veryfied by your chatting on video). About this game I think that MrSmith although had chosen defensive tactic did not fare well, leaving uncovered several pieces (special his major) and found early with disadvantage.
Also not exploited the spy advantage although was behind and had to take some risk for tipping but stayed to the defensive tactic. The rest was formality. Worth mentioning that many players do not recognize the right moment to take risks (when disadvantaged) and I believe this and possibly some future videos of yours will be helpful for them.
Yes you are correct in that some 500-700 level players can be a bit defensive and sometimes wait a little too late to counterattack when behind in material. However in Mr Smith's case there wasn't much that could be done, as I can defend a potential Marshal attack with my Marshal and stop him from crossing the middle.
Hopefully people learn something from my videos, and perhaps I learn something myself. That's why I'm doing this. Stratego is a great game and more people should play it.
