I've just chosen French in school, and I've had German for 2 years.

Yellowhat is the literal translation of my surname.

Starting 7th grade (the grade I just started this year) my school offers Spanish, Latin, and German, and I chose Spanish. So far I only know simple introductions, but hopefully by the end of the year I'll know it much better.

WINNER of the first ever Astros Stratego Series! :D

Fairway you made the best decision IMO. Spanish is easier to learn and in the US it is much more valuable that a dead language and German that you most likely will never use. I took Spanish in College and wish I had continued past the intro course. Especially necessary in Florida where I live.

The Catholic Church beginning to hold mass in English must have killed Latin in schools.

In my school I was just like Sgt. Bulldog. Beginning in 7th grade one could take foreign languages. There was German, French, Spanish, and Latin offered. Today I don't know what my old school offers. My son's high school school offers only Spanish and Chinese now.

Not necessarily a second language, but probably close enough for some of you.

Good Lord, and I thought that the American version was a desecration of English. :o

ça va très bien 17761776 et toi?

I personally talk french as first language. But at the age of 7 years old I had to change home and so we went in south of Switzerland where the language is italian. German is a main subject during secondary school and English comes few later. Now I decided to stop German because I chose to follow the scientific class biology-chemistry but I do still remember some things I have learnt. To summarise I can talk a bt in 4 languages and I really hope to get some more options at university like Spanish and so on

I never lose, I win or I learn…
