Many good ideas have been mentioned over time here. Last month I decided I would cull through the old archives for as many threads of interest to me as I could find. The second of the following lists are what came from this process. The first list are some ideas that I personally came up with. They are new and not archived. I'm not perfectly sure all the ideas are viable or even good; some may not be. But they intrigued me enough that I added them to my second list below. Maybe many of you will agree (and maybe not!) with the new ideas and my picks from the old. Maybe you can add others. Please do.

In no particular order, here's my lists:

New Ideas: (newest ideas listed first)

Old Ideas (archived):
  • Luckypapa, PsychoPatty, maxroelofs and 5 others like this

Wow. I'll delete this message later so it doesn't gum up the thread, but just wanted to say on behalf of forum readers, thanks for the enormous effort this must have taken.

Funny part is the list ain't even far from complete..

Basicly it means they have to shut down the site and renew the site and software for simple reason that nobody is waiting for all the bugs and glitches that comes in return after each and any update..

So when will stratego.com comes out of beta mode?.. I put my money on 2000andnever..

Nice to talk about changes but we all know they won't happen.

Many ideas for change will probably never happen, that's true. But I prefer to be an optimist. There are many others more than what I have assembled, no doubt, which I think is what Patty was saying. (Did you mean to say "close to complete", Patty?) The most common one I've been seeing lately is the feature to be able to request a certain player level, or to be able to decline/blacklist any player one chooses. I'm not necessarily a fan of those ideas, but might be if we addressed the multiple account issue. I would really like to see the basic requirement for a valid email address per every account begun, as a start at least.

Anyway, if we have a bunch of ideas collected in one place it will be helpful if that glorious day comes and the admins ask us what we want, and then they deliver a chunk of it. :) Maybe we'll get out of beta yet.... So feel free to post anything to this thread if you think it is a "good idea".

Useless, I can have 5 valids email adresses with my internet provider

and many more for free

You have to check IP and MAC adress from every player, then figure the fair cases where a dad and a son are both playing on the same computer.

But since the site can give them cash, they never will disabled multiples accounts.

At meta it was allowed for cash.

At gravon (totally free) mutliples accounts are not allowed.

I have 7 sons and 13 daugthers, all playing stratego on the same computer.

Sohal, as to the cash thing you talk about for here, I assume you mean that the more accounts, real or fake, that the site has the more money it will make.   As to emails, I see your point, though I wouldn't quite call them useless.  Certainly they are only a starting point, yes.  At this time here on stratego.com an account can be made up with absolutely no valid email address whatsoever, and so even though you say you can have 5 email addresses from your provider, having a valid email address per each account is at least a limitation which requires you to go to the trouble of setting up those other accounts, and then responding to emails to each and every one of them.  But I totally agree it is not any kind of strong fix.

Then you mention Gravon.  I've never found out the answer to this question:  How does Gravon ensure they have no aliases?  Do they do these IP/MAC checks as you are stating?  Do they hold to one IP/one account?   Or do they make allowances for something like the Napoleon 1er/Barb Noire households?

They give priority on Australian and Canadian market and single player gameplay over fixing ALL that is wrong in multiplayer..

Gary, I just can't believe you fall for SlickMick his bla bla..

Ask him, what contract he signed? 1 year? 2 year?

Bet they pull the plug before anything changes..

General Spy, how is it falling for Mick to list potential ideas for improving the site? True, they may not come about soon or even ever. But that doesn't mean it was a bad idea to list them. Only that it was an exercise. If you go jog a mile, it doesn't mean you've wasted your time just because you won't make the Olympics, does it?

Anyway, I appreciate the feelings. I do know what you mean. There may be little hope on some of my items, or ones that others come up with, but I guess I choose to see the positive. Some of the ideas WILL make it in some day, and that'll be nice.

All those ideas are good, but the site would grow if the multiplayer was better.  Everyone complains about poor multiplayer, its not a fringe group.  Mick just wants to make money, he is not an aficionado of the game.
