Jwfess, welcome to our site. I had just posted right before you reassuring everyone this site there is no such program for cheating on here.  You will face a number of players on here who play very reckless moving their Marshal into your zone and just attack anything and everything. Some game they will succeed and get lucky and other games they will promptly run into a bomb or into a Spy.

I am also new to this site and to the game Stratego. And what I don´t understand is: If cheating like discripted is impossible, what is this topic about in the first place? What kind of cheating is possible?

Hi slowhand,
thank you for your request and welcome to stratego. Since the start of this website in 2012 we've seen 2 kind of cheating:
1) glitsh bug cheaters: before it was possible for your opponent to ask for a tie or for a pause on your turn. And if he would click that request in the same second you were playing you have been kicked out of the game with a defeat. This bug has been solved now by making it impossible to ask for a tie or pause when it is not your turn
2) some players using multiple accounts have found a way to play agaonst themselves. So they were always winning with the same account and losing with the others. The direct impact was that the ranking of such player was extremely high but did not at all correspond to his true level. We have been able to identify him and delete his account. On the other side this type of cheating was only a cheating to the ranking but did not affect the games of other players.

Beside that we are sometimes faced with some abusive behaviours but have created the dedicated topic where such cases can be reported and MT ( Moderating Team) will judge the cases.

But we have never had evidence of other type of cheating like decripting or similar. Should this happen we would suddenly find unexpected players in the top of the ranking. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

We look forward to seeing these few actions to help the stratego community enjoy this game more and more.

Any ideas how someone hypothetically with that win/loss record can have that ranking?

Last fall, I think it was, a fellow named maribo opened a topic on scottrussia inquiring how he could go from something like 360 to over 600 and silver in four days. In those four days Scott had played over 250 games and was pretty much split down the middle as far as win and losses went. On this surface this appeared very fishy to me also. What it turned out to be is that his kid and friends all got on his account, both won and lost a lot of games in the QA, and Scott had begun playing a slew of good regular games as well. The QA affects wins and losses but doesn't affect ELO, of course.

Hi,

if someone plays against Antonpaok4 please take a look if he changes pieces. I played against him and his marshall beats my eight in the middle of the field and after a pause while moving his marshall appears now on the left side of the field and beats a seven.

greets späher

Why does this thread need to be pinned separately from disconnections and abusive behavior. All three could be combined into one.

Hi,

I would like to report The_Mente for chasing and delaying the game.

He first started chasing about 5-10 mins earlier but I started taking shots at 9:46PM.

I also asked him earlier if he could "Please stop chasing me, my major is diagonal to your gen, you are not able to take it." (to which I got no reply)

He then continued to chase so I told him "You can not continuously chase a piece according to the ISF rules." You can then see the rest of the conversation in the shots.

In total the game went for 1 hour and 8 mins.

I also have more shots showing him still chasing at 9:52PM and where I let him have my major at 10:01PM. I would upload them aswell but I have no more KB's

If you need more shots I will have to remove the ones posted and put in the new ones.

Regards,

Losermaker

@Fairway:

Yes, but wether I won or not he still chased unfairly. I only won because I was winning by enough pieces. But If it was a tight game and I needed that major to win he still would have done it.

Even though he got your major, you won the game, right?

Sorry Guys, did the old glitch came back again????????? I was playing a game with a guy called CLB, I was about to take his flag and suddenly when I was about to move my piece he disconnected and the moment he returned the game kicked me out to the log in screen and lost my points and the game!!!(the piece was highlighted with the arrows around it, just like the old times the glitch happened with the difference that instead of asking for pause or draw he disconnected).

Does anyone knows anything about this kind od cheating??

Losermaker's claim was dismissed as a non case by the MT. Movement rules programmed into the software here will not be judged by the MT. Indeed, this movement violated no ISF movement rules either. But, it may very well have been/likely would have been viewed as unsportsmanlike in a live ISF game and stopped for that reason. Here, however, we as moderators have no ability to step into games live and therefore we will not judge these matters after the fact and attempt to change the results of a fait accompli for any misdeeds earlier in the game. There is no way of knowing what the live blocking of the behavior would have meant in the game, after the fact. Perhaps nothing, perhaps everything, perhaps something in between. Any penalty we would issue, though we might share sympathy with Losermaker's plight, would be poor guessing and crass oversight on our part. It is a situation best left alone in our opinion.

Danis_p_gr, do you happen to play on the new app? If not, perhaps your opponent did, though you probably do not know that. The reason I ask is that many odd problems are tied to the new app. I have noticed even that whenever my opponent disconnects I lose MY graveyards!

I'm wondering if you or your opponent was on the new software and that caused this issue. If you cannot tell anything more about the situation, perhaps admins can help.

This has happened to me like 10 times this month.  Guy right off the bat matches after i get out of a game and charges marshal and lottos my pieces.  I think some people have a program that allows their multiple account to match the ip of the person they just played on their other account.
