Hi there,

i know this site's programming is problematic but the thing that happened to me is utterly ridiculous.

I was matched with a player with ELO little higher than me (i was 618 and he/she 646). So as i was arranging my formation i got kicked out from the game.

After about 4-5 minutes a message pops out  that said that connection was restored. And then i saw that my ELO had dropped to 584. That is a 34 points reduction which is not logical.

I had not lose a game previously to justify this reduction.

Will something be done with all these annoying bugs?

Are you trying to get rid of all the decent players?

Fix the damn thing, it can't be that hard...

It seems harder than we think :(.

We'll try to figure this one out. Sometimes there is a quite unlogical explanation of things. TheProf, do you know any in this case?

Honestly, I'd be willing to donate $ if it meant fixing some of these issues.

Yes, I think many would pay for this site if they fixed a few things.  I know would.  It's beautiful, just needs to be finished up.

@don mitsos

You should have reduction of 11 points only because when you lost connection during set up there is no way back.
All we can do is to ask from Admin to restore your points but needs to give your opponent's name and GMT time when this bug happened.

I too think its a beautiful site. I don't think people really give stratego.com enough credit. Sure it has a few problems, but its a lot better than nothing.

Anyway, maybe those who don't like stratego.com should ask for a refund. Wait...

Hi, I'm sick of the bugs in this game. It is always disconnecting and most of the times I cannot reconnect in time, due to the bad connection. It is also log me out all the time. I have lost more than 200 games due to bad connection (this is absolutely true) and I am getting sick of it. It is not so much about the points, which I don;t care so much, but I lose games, which I should have won all the time. The site sucks DO STH ABOUT IT

Hi all,

Again a post about bugs from me, because this kind of bug really annoys me; internet faillure or any kind of faillure in set-up time. Today it happened 3 times, and of course all 3 times a loss for me.

Of one of the three times I made a screenshot:

http://imgur.com/BUPxGKQ <-- in set-up time

I don't know what to do about it, and I whish I was some kind of brilliant technical person, who can come with sollutions to contribute to this forum, and not just complain about the game. But unfortunately I'm just a law student, who doesn't understand the whole computer and is at a point of throw-computer-out-of-window-frustration.

I hope some of you guys has a brilliant idea to prevent bugs in set-up time, or at least just something that you can't immediately lose the game with a faillure of any kind, in set-up time. Of course I'm willing to help or do whatever it takes to prevent this annoying bug, but I don't think the sollution is in a code (law)

Sorry for this complainement. I love the game though (that's why I didn't throw my computer out of the window yet  ).

X

I'm willing to donate $ if it means fixing the problems. The lack of effort contributed to that end boggles the mind. Let's do something about this!

The moderators cannot edit the code, it is not their fault.

No, it's not. But they have access to the site's proprietors, do they not?

...

Make bad programming, erroneous software and/or bugs a punishable crime  :D

Cause it is not about the absence of programmers, but much more likely due to having no priority to put money in fixing some "minor" issues (from a management perspective that is.. ).

Making it a crime would shake them awake ...

... and it would be good for my profession too

Hi Ntactical,
... it looks like you are a math-iac when i read your signature...so i have question for you:
when reading gravon fans speaking about gravon they always say the site there is much better because there is no bug...on the other side it looks also that there are almost no players there...while on stratego.com there are bugs bugs bugs but also a lot of players...so mathematically speaking there seem to be a correlation between high number of bugs and high number of players? ... can you explain it...lol...
...2nd question: am i right if i say that bugs bugs bugs is the place where Romeo met Juliet?
If you don't know where you go ... you have a lot of chance to arrive elsewhere ...

Haha.

1.

It is a nice observation, but I ofcourse don't think there is a correlation between bugs and players. First of all, this site is most visually appealing, and although that is not the most important to die-hard fans, it is to the main stream. Furthermore. When one hears the word gravon as an unknowing individual, do you think he/she would think of stratego? I wouldn't. This site is named stratego.com. If one is looking for online stratego, where do you think one would end up? Yep. There is the real correlation. Furthermore, Jumbo owns copyright/trademark on Stratego as its original inventor (having only sold a license to Milton Bradley in the past).

2.

Yes, we (me and aSymmeTric) met eachother here as we once explained in this post (and mentioned here:D It was during a ranked meet-up while our ranks were differing about 450 points back then; seems we were destined for eachother haha. Soon, we will be living together: hope that does not disturb the clean ranking as we will be sharing the same IP   We may be able to prove we are 2 individuals though, by sharing a photo lol

PS: Math and Computer Science are pretty different expertises, but Math is a big part of CS yes. CS is all about logic, algorithms, structure, etc.

OK i guess you can't fix the existing problem, but at least give me back the points i lost today.

I was kicked out twice and lost from much lesser opponents

3th time I got zero points, while winning a game.. The win also doesn't count in my ratio (but disconnects and bugs that make you lose always seem to count in the ratio   :( ).. very strange

Another bug.

Tried to arrange a match. Clock goes down to 0:00, but no battlefield coming. I waited for a while because I did not want to lose.

After a minute or something this screen appeared (see pdf). And the next screen said I was the winner.

I do not like to win that way so I looked into my gameresults. No points won, no points lost and no game bij 'played games', so my opponent did not lose points I suppose.

Time to fix something here.

Lucky
