Blue captures spy and has 2-square rule advantage against red so the former can capture the latter's flag.

Perhaps a more interesting quiz would be to calculate if red moves first.

I used to play against a few drunken idiots in College and University. I just recently discovered this game online, playing my first matches against real-world opponents. After 100 games, I'm now one of the top 10 players in the world.

Win for blue

With RTM: F9-J9 and easy win, no?

Yes... that too lol.

Going to column A also works, thats the variation i saw. Moving gen down first would be losing

Variation please?

Edit: play-testing this with Nortrom confirms it is a draw. Solution to follow later :)

Blue to move. All pieces known.

Quiz Nr. 3 by TemplateRex:

  1. What is the game result with optimal play from both sides?

Nortrom came with the following draw variation:

1. E8xF8 G8xF8

2. E1-E8 F9-F10

3. E8-D8 F8-E8! (frees up F-file for the red scout, and threatens F10-F1-G1, with mate-in-2)

4. D8xE8 F10-F8 (and a forced scout exchange: if blue now leaves the 8th rank, F8-F1-G1 with mate-in-2 again)

5. E8-A8 F8xA8 draw

After F9-F10, how about E8-E9 instead of E8-D8

Hmm can the 2 square rule come in to play? E8Xf8 g8XF8 e1-e8. F9-f10 E8-d8 and so on that wins spy at least.

E9-E7

if you mean

1. E8xF8 G8xF8

2. E1-E8 F9-F10

3. E8-E9 F8-F9

4. E9-E7

I would play

4... F9-E9 and now

1) 5. E7-E8 F10-F8 red wins

2) 5. E7xE9 F10-F1 red wins

Now a live quizz. See my last game of wco 2017/2018 against karaiskakis https://youtu.be/WdZEg93jtEI . For this game you need only to watch the last 7 moves (of each player) and then answer the following questions:

1) Karaiskakis said after his last move that he made a missclick. Now look back at the 6 moves I made before his missclick. If we consider that one of these 6 moves was also a missclick from me (in the heat of the game it was no missclick but just a bad move) what would have been the right move and sequence of moves to do instead to get the victory for Napoleon 1er without any doubt?

2) Let's assume that Karaiskakis would not have made that missclick but instead would have moved his major vertically instead of horizontally as he said he would have done. What would have then been the effective game end if we assume that both players would always make the optimal move without mistake:

a. Victory for Karaiskakis?

b. Victory for Napoleon 1er?

c. Draw?

3) How many minimum moves are necessary to reach right game end a, b or c above?

4) Would the result you found on 2) above have changed something for the ranking of the top 3 players in wco 2017/2018?

Note: For this quizz we have to consider that ISF rules apply so counterchase is allowed, chasing from distance is allowed and double chase is not allowed.

Dan, there was a way for you to win the match earlier, without KARAISKAKIS being able to prevent it. Take a look at this photo.

A2-A7 E6-E7

A7-A4 and you have 2-square advantage so you'll be able to pass your scout to reach KARAISKAKIS' flag.
